The California Route Project is an ambitious project to add new routes for Microsoft Train Simulator/Open Rails Train Simulator.
Begun in 2016 by Stephen Hjellum, the project will include such routes like the Union Pacific "Cal-P" Line between Oakland, California and Sacramento, California, the Valley Subdivision from Roseville to Dunsmuir with a portion of the Black Butte Subdivision, and will include such views as San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, and many of the Northern California shortlines. Run a locomotive from Mount Shasta City to Roseville, then Roseville to Fresno and Bakersfield, or run a shortline near Sacramento, or run a commuter train from San Francisco to San Jose, possibilities will be endless.
Q & A
Q: When will this route be available?
A: When it's done, of course, but plans are to have much of the trackwork done in the next coming year.
Q: Will there be scenarios/activities?
A: Of course, many different railroad runs will be provided.
Q: Will this route cost anything?
A: It's meant to be a freeware route, with limited content permissions.
Q: What track will be used?
A: 3DTrains ScaleRail and ScaleRoads will be used for the hundreds of miles of Standard Guage Rail, while custom Bay Area Rapid Transit District tracks to be built in the future.
Q: Can I help?
A: Absolutely! Send a shout out in the Contact Page, and you will be answered quickly.
